Will Apple Cards Reshape the Greeting Card Industry?

Were you surprised by Apple’s announcement of the new Cards app for iPhone? You shouldn’t be — it’s a multi-billion dollar industry that has so far weathered the recession better than most. According to the U.S. Greeting Card Association, Americans send 7 billion greeting cards every year. (via Mashable)

But more than that what it represents is an opportunity for brands. People love photographing and more so love sending it to friends and family. Capitalize Facebook and allow fans to build creative cards to send. Don’t brand the cards, simply provide access and tools word-of-mouth will follow from the unique experience. What do you think?
